Cross Country Accent Confusion…

I love BG’s accent – it is one of the (many!) things that attracted me to her.  But sometimes she encounters communication problems in America…

One of my favorite BG stories came from a parent (BG is an elementary school teacher).  The parent said her child came home from the first day of school and was upset about her new teacher.  When asked why, she said “my teacher asked me what my ‘lost name’ was - and I don’t know what my lost name is or where to find it…”

We won’t even get into geysers, bonnets, or silencers – that is for another article…

Raymond Pechacek lives in the U.S. and is married to a wonderful South African lady (BG!). He writes about the people, customs, wildlife, and places of South Africa, runs a consulting firm to help companies improve their global trade processes, and imports products into the U.S. - with an emphasis on supporting South Africa!
