I just stumbled upon your blog. It makes me really happy to see that you love Monkeyland. It is simply the best place (on earth) to live and work.

I am not sure if you have ever visited Birds of Eden www.birdsofeden.co.za? It is the sanctaury we opened up next to Monkeyland 2005. It's a STUNNING place!

Have an awesome Christmas and New Years!

Well, when I was growing up as a country boy in south Texas, it was fairly common for me to hear someone say, "That's a shame, I'm sorry you are sick."

If someone had a misfortune, and you wanted to show sincere concern, it was common to start the sentence with "That's a shame", or "It's a shame". Even now, when I revert to my "country talk" as Patsy calls it, I still use the phrase. :-)

Love the story it makes me laugh. I grew up in South Africa, I now live in Calgary, Canada and have many similar stories. One was when we first came to Calgary I went into WalMart and asked for a "dustbin" bag and no-one knew what I wanted I left empty handed - until I found out its a "garbage" bag.
