Monkeyland-A Great Place to Visit

IMG_7345

One of my favorite places in South Africa is Monkeyland.  It is located near Plettenberg Bay and is a “must see” stop if you are traveling the Garden Route.

BG and I spent a few hours touring Monkeyland.  It is an enclosed refuge with hiking trails that wind around the wooded area (great for monkeys, of course!).  You take a guided tour that allows you to get “up close and personal” with the monkeys.

Monkeyland serves as a refuge for rescued monkeys and educates visitors on their habits and plight.  There are many varieties but they all get along due to the very large size of the refuge (just like everything else in South Africa!).   Even the local monkeys try to get in (but they are unsuccessful).

Try to include Monkeyland on your next visit-you will not be disappointed!

I just stumbled upon your blog. It makes me really happy to see that you love Monkeyland. It is simply the best place (on earth) to live and work.

I am not sure if you have ever visited Birds of Eden http://www.birdsofeden.co.za? It is the sanctaury we opened up next to Monkeyland 2005. It’s a STUNNING place!

Have an awesome Christmas and New Years!
